Valkenhof – Futureproof Care journey (2022 – 2023)

In 2022, Unleash was approached by the Board of Valkenhof to help them bring more humanity back in their Retirement Homes. It was their personal dream to transform their organization and fight back procedures and old habits that are not in the clients best interest. Instead, they wanted to create awareness for all managers to focus on the potential and possibilities of their clients.

With the Board and entire Managament Team of around 20 leaders, we spend five sessions of two days to create this awareness by taking a deep dive in the organization and observe what’s happening, exploring their own leadership style and role in the organization, and start experimenting with small changes.

Examples of experiments were:

- allowing a woman with dementia to take walks in the woods by herself

- improving the quality of the food, with more solid food

- letting employees organize events, together with clients

Etc.

The whole journey created a ripple effect in Valkenhof and the MT members learned (by means of ‘story telling’) how to inspire and lead employees to make more impact. They took bold steps to improve the lives of their clients - finding new ways to balance freedom with responsibiliuty.
